About
ByMr.Johnson

ByMrJohnson is a motorcycle platform for riders who want to become safer, more confident and better informed — without the ego, pressure or unnecessary noise.

I’m Ro, a motorcyclist based in Amsterdam and the person behind ByMrJohnson.

I created this website to share practical motorcycle lessons, honest experiences and useful guidance for beginner and developing riders. It is the kind of resource I would have appreciated when I was learning: straightforward, realistic and focused on the things that genuinely matter on the road.

Why I Started byMr.Johnson

Motorcycling can feel overwhelming when you are getting started.

There is a lot to learn: choosing protective gear, controlling the motorcycle at low speeds, riding in traffic, understanding road conditions and deciding which advice you can actually trust.

Online, motorcycle content can sometimes make riding look effortless. Mistakes are edited out, uncertainty is rarely discussed and advice is often delivered as though there is only one correct way to do everything.

That has never matched my experience.

Learning to ride involves questions, imperfect moments, gradual progress and plenty of lessons that only become clear once you spend time on the motorcycle.

ByMrJohnson exists to talk honestly about that process.

I am not here to present myself as a professional instructor or someone who has mastered every aspect of motorcycling. I am a rider who continues to learn, practise and improve. I believe those lessons can help other riders make clearer and safer decisions.

What You’ll Find Here

The content on ByMrJohnson focuses on practical topics that riders can use in the real world, including:

  • Beginner motorcycle skills and common mistakes
  • Low-speed control, balance and confidence
  • Riding safely in traffic and difficult conditions
  • Motorcycle helmets, protective clothing and CE ratings
  • Pre-ride checks and motorcycle safety
  • Amsterdam motorcycle life
  • Lessons from owning and riding my Yamaha MT-07, TITAN

The goal is to give you enough useful information to make your own informed decision.

A Calm Approach to Motorcycling

I believe confidence should be built gradually.

You do not need to ride aggressively, take unnecessary risks or prove yourself to anyone to belong in the motorcycle community. Progress can mean practising slow-speed turns in an empty area, becoming more comfortable in heavy traffic or deciding not to ride when the conditions are beyond your current ability.

Those decisions are part of becoming a better rider.

The approach behind ByMrJohnson is simple:

  • Learn the fundamentals.
  • Practise deliberately.
  • Respect the risks.
  • Stay curious.
  • Improve at your own pace.

Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

MEET TITAN

TITAN is my Yamaha MT-07 and an important part of the ByMrJohnson story.

The MT-07 is the motorcycle through which I continue to develop my skills, experience everyday riding around Amsterdam and learn more about ownership, maintenance, gear and motorcycle setup.

You will see TITAN featured in articles, videos and personal stories—not as a perfect show bike, but as the motorcycle connected to my real experiences as a rider.

Built From Real Questions

Many ByMrJohnson articles begin with a question I have asked myself, encountered while riding or seen other motorcyclists struggle with.

How should motorcycle gear fit?

What does a CE rating actually mean?

Why does the motorcycle feel unstable at low speeds?

How should a newer rider approach gravel, rain or heavy traffic?

The best content should help someone understand a problem, avoid a mistake or feel better prepared before getting back on the motorcycle.

That is the standard I want every guide on this website to meet.

Safety Comes First

Motorcycling always involves risk, and no article or video can replace professional training, supervised practice or the instructions provided by a motorcycle or equipment manufacturer.

The information on ByMrJohnson is intended to support your development—not replace qualified instruction.

Where appropriate, speak with a certified motorcycle instructor, consult the manufacturer’s guidance or seek professional mechanical assistance.

Knowing when to ask for help is part of responsible riding.

Where ByMrJohnson Is Going

ByMrJohnson is growing beyond a collection of blog posts.

The long-term goal is to build a useful motorcycle platform across the website, YouTube and social media—combining practical education, real riding experiences, gear ownership and life on two wheels in Amsterdam and abroad.

That includes:

  • Detailed motorcycle guides
  • POV rides and practical observations
  • Gear reviews
  • Yamaha MT-07 ownership content
  • Downloadable rider resources
  • Stories about personal growth through motorcycling

The platform will continue to evolve, but its purpose will remain the same: helping riders make safer, clearer and better-informed decisions.
